and the rain falls gently

it was raining when i left work today.
the soft, soaking kind of rain you read about.
the flowers and crops seemed to turn their faces to the heavy clouds
drinking in the delectable gift.
it pattered softly atop my little umbrella
the wind was not blowing
birds were calling
and as i walked down the sidewalk
i couldn't wipe the silly grin off my face.

it also showered yesterday.
these days have been a rare treat, as the rain has not come with storms.
i stepped outside for a moment
and soon finding myself
bounding across the soft grass in bare feet
feeling the earth between my toes.

Isaiah 55:10-11

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
And do not return there without watering the earth
And making it bear and sprout,
And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;

These are inspiring images, dear friend Abigail! How fortunate you are to have received the gift of gentle, soaking rain without the high winds, thunder and lightning that often accompany it. You can almost feel the gratitude as the thirsty buds drink their fill. You can almost sense his joy as the lucky ladybug shinnies up the wet stem to his destination. Even dear little Daisy seems to appreciate the fresh smell of rain dampened grass.

Never lose that silly grin. Never lose your zest for running barefoot across the lawn. Never lose your childlike enthusiasm. Never lose your appreciation of these simple, natural gifts that are everywhere around you, given in abundance and yours to enjoy every day of your life.

Gosh, I love your writing! It reminds me of the book: Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse. If you haven't read it before, you should!

Gorgeous photography, too :)

Such beautiful photographs, Abigail, and such a beautiful description. Through these I could almost feel the atmosphere of those days and the smell of the rain. Lovely. I think these would be some of my favourite photographs that I've seen of yours - they are brilliant!

Those moments are the best. When you can't help but to smile, just because you're existing and isn't that just a beautiful thing? Love your words.
