THE SUNSET PROJECT - WEEK 34

(this is my 100th post)

its just been plain old lovely around here.
but right now i'm speaking of night.

when the sun sets,
it's not very late.
i linger outside until the colors fade completely.

i love to stargaze in the fall.
the sky is so clear.
i stand in the yard
just staring up.
i wish i had a dslr camera,
or something with a longer exposure.
my stars and night sky...
they only things i can't save or share with you properly.
 for at least two weeks
i've slept with my windows open.
the night air lazily drifts in
softly touching my cheek and shoulder.
bringing with it the cricket's song
a distant coyote's howl.
sometimes a truck roars by.
(farmers are bringing in corn now,
some well into the night.)

what are your fall evenings/nights like?

You're supposed to write one hundred facts about yourself as a hundredth post marker! Do write one... that would be awesome to get to know you better : )

I love how your posts read like poetry. The night time is my favourite too, I just love looking at the moon.

Hi, dear Abigail! It might be my imagination but I think your Kansas sunsets are becoming even more mysterious and beautiful as autumn sets in. Each and every one of these pictures is a marvel to behold. Just look at the rainbow of colors on display day by day!

Here in Florida it is still far too warm for me to open windows at night. I envy you being able to do that and breathe the fresh country air as you drift off to peaceful sleep. I know Daisy must love it, too. I can imagine her little sniffer working overtime as the breeze carries a variety of scents into the house.

I hope you are having a delightful Monday, dear friend Abigail. Take care and enjoy the rest of your week!

I like the first one you did this week, the trees really draw the eye in towards the sun.

Congratulations on 100 posts! You always post such lovely content, pictures, and poems, and it's a joy to visit your blog!
I know what you're talking about in this post. I've forgotten how much I love fall sunsets/evenings. I love the gradient colors in the last picture!

The evenings sound just beautiful there and I can imagine how beautiful the skies must look at night, they looks so beautiful even in daylight, the stars must be amazing. And how incredible to hear a coyote howling at night. I'd love to experience that some day.
As the weather warms, the evenings here become still and 'heavy' with humidity. It's as if the night sky has dropped down towards earth a few notches and almost looks like the moon has become so heavy that the sky is finding it hard to hold up. Warm yellow light from the street lamps stream in through open fly-screened windows and the silence of night is pierced by screeching fruit bats.

That's a beautifully descriptive paragraph, Lucy!

Your autumn nights sound dreamy. There is definitely a crispness in the air most days around here, but it seems like summer is having a hard time letting go because after a few cold days, it warms back up again and the humidity returns. I was just thinking the other day that I am so excited for the nights to become clear enough for stargazing! This year I want to travel someplace really dark so I can see the stars properly, I live in the city and they are very hard to see here. Congratulations on the 100th post!

This is most definitely a magical time of year! It's still warm but the coolness in the evening is refreshing and invigorating. Your post reads like poetry to me.
