spent a few days away.
was without computer or wifi access
no cell phone signal
it was wonderful
came home to a full blog feed
(it seems like everyone posts furiously when i'm gone)
but found very good things
namely
(among many others)
they seemed to echo my feelings
people think they are free
but in reality?
we are slaves
slaves to our cell phones
slaves to our televisions
slaves to our computers
slaves to ourselves.
we think those things help us
make life easier
but they enslave us.
we intend to only spend a moment...
it stretches into hours.
our attentions are turned
we miss things
beautiful things
our lives are being sucked away!
and we hardly even notice

How can you say that we shall be set free?" Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever.So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." I just love sunsets. And I suppose I am enslaved to my phone (sort of)- my phone, my blog, and Ol' Blue, each clamoring for my attention. *Beep* new email *ding* new blog post *bang-putt-putt-putt* need a new truck by golly.LOL
Hi, Abigail! These are all awesome skyscapes but the one that really caught my attention was the first. If you turned the image upside down and cropped it to show only the swirl of cirrus clouds against the blue sky, you could imagine yourself gazing at a beach sandbar with clean blue water swirling around it.
You brought up a topic that is important to all bloggers or anyone registered on other social media sites. It's easy to get lost, immersed, swallowed up to the point where you forget to go out and live your life. A healthy balance is essential and time management is imperative. Ironically, the more successful we become as bloggers, the more friends and followers we add to our circle. the greater the demands on our time and attention. Very soon we run the risk of hurting a friend's feelings by neglecting them, simply because we are too busy reading and commenting on so many other blogs. That's why I want to state right here and now how much I appreciated your visit to my blog today and the stellar comment you left. It was superb. It took time. I salute you for making that effort for me, dear friend!

It feels good to disconnect and get back to basics, to be reminded what it is to live without the din of technology and see life clearly through eyes instead of lenses and devices.
That said, I do appreciate my time spent here gazing at your sunset photographs. I particularly the intense oranges you've captured lately. Beautiful.
First off, I love your pictures (as usual, they are gorgeous). And you brought up some very thought-provoking messages. It is sad that there are so many people (namely, children and teens) who spend all their time on the internet, or on their cell phones. I think that a lot of people waste so much time doing this because they're depressed or they feel guilty about stuff they should've done or shouldn't have. And in a way, technology--though it does make life easier in some form or another--oftentimes does just the opposite. (My dad tells me that when the cell phone first came out/started getting popular, people said that it would make life SO much easier, but now look at where we are.) And, as you mentioned, it's not even about being a slave only to technology as it is so many other things--material possessions, wealth, lust, or whatever other sins that we've all committed. So, yes it is very important just to take time to focus on God and His creations rather than spending it all being caught up in everything else. What you wrote is very inspirational, so thank you :).
Lol. we all have things that we are into and like, and phones and stuff aren't bad, just trying to point out that we need balance. it seems like everyone just gets online nowadays and has nothing to show for it

glad you like them! the first picture was actually taken about 30 minuites before the actual sunset. the sun later sank lower and made the clouds a dusty pink, but i thought that this one was more vivid and bright and used it instead.
i'm glad that you appreciate my little slice of western sky, Randi. the oranges are actually my favorite, so i was quite pleased with these. it also might have something to do with the atmosphere or seasons, because it seems like in the winter, the sky turned more pinks and purple.
that is exactly right! movies and internet really take your mind someplace else, and i myself have before gotten on the computer to cheer myself up or procrastinate from all i need to do.
