the familiar june heat and humidity has set in,
turning the library into a cool, busy place.
with each middle weekday morning
before the heat, before the library,
and each evening after the library, and after the heat,
I find myself under the open sky, out in the fresh air.
the whir and crunch of bicycle tires on gravel roads,
the soft weight of braided hair resting between my shoulder blades,
the early and late wind mixed of floral scents, mown grass and birds song.
golden hour drives,
a carful of friends and family in comfortable silence, sunglasses and smiles.
The ebb and flow of cicada and bullfrog.
summer creation and its freedom,
it's mix of businesses and easiness
forever eases my mind and soul.

Ummm...WOW!!! Girl, you have got some banjo skillzzzz!!!! I love music but cannot for the life of me get myself to sit down & practice! I have a ukulele & would love to play but my discipline is lacking but feeling inspired by you right now!
Hi, dear Abigail & Daisy! You say that I should write a book? YOU should write a book! Your writing is trance inducing. It draws me in, envelopes me. You have a maturity and wisdom far beyond your tender years. Your writing skill is matched by your photography and your musicianship. The portrait of you and Daisy is a work of art.
I continue to be in awe of you, dear friend Abigail. Please smile and know that you are reaching people, touching them deep down with your words, your pictures your music and your spirit. Have a safe and happy weekend!
Your words paired with your photos are magical - they take me to a far off place and it is wonderful! Reading your words feels just like watching a short film.
oh this is beautiful! makes me wistful for summer, its currently winter here in NZ!
I love your photos and your writing! They seem to both capture June perfectly ♥

Abigail! YOU ARE INSANELY TALENTED.
Could I please visit you and we could jam and you could show me the beauty you write about in the flesh? okay cool awesome.
Your playing is amazing. I may have listened more than once haha.
This writing really captures the feeling of those first few hot summer days so well. Also, you have some amazing banjo skills!
You are a wonderful banjo player! I really want to go to Kansas now, my husband goes out there pheasant hunting but I want to go now and see this beautiful now!
Oh wow, how long have you been playing the banjo? I know literally nothing about the banjo so forgive me but are you tightening/loosening the strings as you're playing? That's simply amazing!
I LOVE the "state fishing lake" photo! So gorgeous. And, I haven't been here since you've changed your header, but it's so lovely!
I have only passed through Kansas a few times, never stayed there, but it has always just been such an interesting place, I would love to visit it again and really explore! :)

Yes to many many summer bike rides. ♥ I highly recommend a 6AM bike ride, if you can wake up for it! The world is so quiet and the sun is so low that it hasn't had time to turn the air into humid, tangible heat.
(Also, I am way jealous of your banjo skills every time you play something.)

Yes to 6AM AND 9PM rides. the world quiet and the sun low, it is perfect.
(also, i am way jealous of your creative projects and abilities every time you share them)
Yes ma'am. I changed the tuners to a special geared kind that stops it from going too far so that it stays in tune. It's a LOT of fun and surprisingly easy! I've played almost four years. Thanks Kim!
I think that any place, with the right outlook and right sunlight can be beautiful, just as you show in your photographs, Thanks, Lana.

Oh my. How in world do you write such deep, beautiful verses? How do you create pictures that are simply gorgeous and so meaningful? Goodness, so amazing! :D
