i'm actually kind of fragile, though i try not to be

when the temperatures drop below freezing
i go in search of a warming liquid.
i always end up with sweet hot chocolate.
coffee being to bitter
and tea being to bland for my tongue.

Interestingly, for me hot cocoa is my warm weather beverage of choice as well, not only because I madly adore it, but because some of my medical conditions prevent me from being able to consume anything with caffeine, much acidity, carbonation, alcohol, and a host of other ingredients, but if I make it from scratch with "safe" ingredients, I can savour a toasty mug of cocoa every now and then (ditto for warm, booze-free, apple cider).

Here's to us hot chocolate loving ladies and the prospect of a wonderful winter ahead!

*PS* I'm thrilled that you're thrilled about the Vintage Secret Santa gift exchange. Your enthusiasm is palpable and is upping my own all the more. Thank you so much for taking part, honey.

I hope your cold snap isn't too severe, dear Abigail. Looks like you found a good way of coping and keeping warm with a soothing cup of hot chocolate. I appreciate these compositions. Gone are the typical bursts of vivid color. Instead you offer an absorbing essay that shows how light and shadow plays on neutral black, white and earth tone objects and surfaces. You took a simple idea and activity and turned it into an interesting pictorial.

Thank you for another batch of soul satisfying images, dear friend Abigail. Bundle up and enjoy your hot chocolate. I wish you and Daisy a safe and happy weekend!

Those photos are so warm and cozy! They make me feel liking curling up in a warm sweater and drinking hot chocolate in front of the fireplace :)

I love your blog and can see that you are an amazing photographer. Aw, hot chocolate. One of the best treats to have for a cold day. :) I'm definitely going to follow!

Lovely pictures, I love the one of the shadows on the chair. Even though today in Australia was stifling hot you've got me wanting a hot chocolate now!

Nothing beats hot chocolate for warmth and comfort on a chilly winter day! It's snowing right now, so hot chocolate would be fantastic (other than the fact that I need to minimize sweets to get well!) Great photo of the cup with your sweater in the background!

Aww yes! Hot chocolate is the best with lots of whipped cream and cinnamon sprinkle. Usually I drink too much and get very nauseous. But that doesn't stop me from drinking it :-D

Lovely photo with that shadow on the chair.

Oh yes please! I love the winter weather when we get to drink the hot drinks. I love them all, from cider, to coffee, to tea, to hot coco, to cappuccinos and lattes. Oh, I just love this time of year! Tip: tea is very mild and I find that white sugar has a kind of empty sweetness in it, but honey really brings the flavors out and it's richness makes it more full-flavored. Happy winter!
