ah, tuesday is king again.
for the last three weeks,
tuesday's sunset has been the only real colorful one.
every other day is cloudy.
but i don't mind it.
we got a bit of snow!
so the semester is over
we played the last christmas show
also the last set of the season.
i have two wonderful weeks of relaxing
long walks
hours of music playing
traveling/adventures
and sleeping in.
don't you just love christmas break?
after working hard
it's so nice to end the year with slowing down
reflecting and being with family.

Hi, dear Abigail! Christmas time is what you make of it. I was very happy to read your impression of these last two weeks of the year. Many people complain about Christmas. They don't see it as a time for slowing down but rather for speeding up. They perceive it as the most hectic and exhausting time of the year, crunch time, a race against the clock, days of battling heavy traffic and large crowds in stores to find everything on their holiday shopping lists, mailing greeting cards, erecting and trimming a tree, stringing lights and putting up all the other decorations and preparing feasts for large family gatherings. Those who view Christmas as a bother have a choice. They can frame all of the above as a fun challenge, jump in, go with the flow and find it within themselves to enjoy the chaos. Or, they can change their approach to the holidays entirely. They can choose to become more organized and not wait until the last minute to get started. This means watching for sales and shopping for Christmas presents in January and other months early in the year. They can choose to shop online. They can be honest with friends and family and make a mutual pact to downsize Christmas instead of escalating it every year into a quest for bigger and better. Most people I know, including Mrs. Shady, would be relieved to scale back and enjoy a more restful and relaxing holiday, but they don't because they fear that they'd be letting everybody else down. It's hard to experience Christmas spirit and remember the real meaning behind the celebration when you are tired and stressed.
You always have a choice. We all do.
Happy Sunday, dear friend Abigail!
The bright sunsets are pretty, but I've always loved how the bare trees look in winter, against the thick white clouds. Christmas breaks are magical, enjoy them while you still get to have them!
I love all of your photos! Enjoy your Christmas break, I'm on mine, too :)

Perfect Imperfections
The clouds look neat in the first photo. I also like Tuesday's sunset.
Is that snow in Friday's picture? I'm jealous, we haven't had any yet! I'm enjoying a relaxing Christmas break too, we don't do much but that's kind of the joy of it! I don't understand why people put so much pressure on themselves at Christmas and find it a stressful season, I feel like they're missing the point of it. I hope you have a lovely Christmas day!
Glad to hear that you got some snow! And what beautiful snowy and wintery skies.
Wow. I just found your blog. And these sunset posts are so lovely! Your whole blog is lovely too, of course. :)
oh my goodness, you are so right. the christmas season has always been very busy, but we like to start early and take it slow. i guess looking at the last two weeks of the year as relaxing isn't a very popular idea, but it's just what i've always done. Merry Christmas!
yes! you're so right! i love how you said that, the bare trees against the thick white clouds. i've really come to enjoy cloudy days.
How fascinating that the sun was only making an appearance on Tuesday evenings. That's more than it's been doing around these (rainy) parts lately.
Your blissfully relaxing holiday plans sound so very, very lovely. I don't think I'll be able to swing two weeks of R&R, but this Christmas week, I am taking many breathers and trying to put work aside while I savour the wonders of the season and time spent with loved ones.
Happiest holiday wishes, dear gal,
♥ Jessica
